Well, it went red-oxide after the little mishap with the bonnet. The grill at the front was replaced by a chrome boot handle from a Morris 1100 (remember you saw it here first), and then the rear came under scrutiny, so to speak. After hours of trawling the net, the road traffic act registration and lighting legislation were residing on the hard disk. It turns out that all 'Q' reg motors are (for MOT purposes) classed as 1971 vintage, which means it can legally have black plates. It was also noted that black plates can be backlit. It's a bit of grey area whether a number plate is required at the front as a motortricycle under 400kg is classed as a motorcycle. So it won't have one until we are told otherwise.
